LPSUK India Covid Crisis Appeal
LPSUK’s India Covid Crisis Appeal is focused on the LPS ancestral homeland of SNV (Surat Navsari and Valsad) districts of South Gujarat. This area is being as badly affected as cities like Delhi which have more healthcare facilities.
Many LPS UK members have lost loved ones in India in this second huge wave. Our prayers are with all those who have lost loved ones at the hands of the pandemic.
The impact is being felt in all SNV communities, especially the poor who rely on the small number of “nothing to pay” hospital beds in the area. Some of these locations are very remote and will not get support quickly from India’s Central Government who are working tirelessly to help one sixth of the whole world’s population.
So let’s do our bit.
LPSUK members with trusted contacts in our district have already taken the first step by finding worthy local Covid projects. For example, one remote hospital just East of Bardoli has extra oxygen facilities in their new make shift wing but need a powerful generator for the times when mains power cuts out. The generators are available to buy locally and the electricians are available – all we need to do is fund the purchase. Low costs in India and the exchange rate of over Rs100 per British Pound means our support goes even further.
PLUS LPS London is administering all UK donations, whether they come from our UK regions, businesses or individuals. This means personal donations by UK taxpayers will be boosted by 25% as Gift Aid support by the UK HMRC. All sums raised including the Gift Aid will be added to the Appeal total.
